A bit about the Author
Born in Australia and having lived in Sydney, Canberra and Queensland throughout the years, I've also spent time residing in the UK, Monaco, and now Spain. An Aussie girl through and through, I was well and truly ready to settle my roots in Sydney when life threw a curved ball three years ago and lobbed my family into a brand new life. This is putting it mildly. After twenty years with my husband, we separated after twelve months of arriving in Spain, and the turmoil that followed was debilitating, and enlightening. Within the two years since separation most of my time and energy has been taken up with an all consuming divorce, but now I'm ready to spread my wings.
I've traveled fairly extensively, both as a young girl with my family, a single girl, and with my ex-husband and children. Travel has always played an essential role in my life, and if I have anything to do with it, this won't change.
My children started racing motorcycles at a young age and our move to Spain was part of the plan to help them develop their sporting skills, in an environment perfectly set up to race in the most competitive environment in the World. Whilst I'm still adjusting to this unfamiliar life my boys are absolutely in love with Spain and all the freedom and opportunities accessible to them here. My oldest son continues to pursue motorcycle racing as a long term career and I cannot see us leaving Spain any time in the very near future.
Prior to having my children, and up until late last year I worked in the fields of Public Relations, Event Management and Marketing, and obtained a Diploma in Freelance Travel Writing several years ago. For the past fifteen years this work has been focused on my ex-husband and his business interests, and more recently to support my children's sporting ambitions. Unfortunately it's no longer tenable to work closely with the ex, so I'm busy searching for a new future and a new passion.
Shamefully I haven't yet learned the language. It's a long story, and I've already used up all my excuses so I won't bore you with them now (maybe later). But as I'm sure you can imagine, only understanding a little of what's going on around you most days really does make for an interesting and sometimes frustrating life. In the early stages of my Blog I expect this will be more than apparent. I do however plan to take the ' Spanish bull by the horns' in 2016 and put my mind and effort into learning the lingo. Watch this space...
I love great food and travel, and combining the two. The ocean is my sanctuary and I need to be close to the water as much as possible to feel sane. Change and challenge keep me interested. Stability keeps me grounded. My boys are my life, and my family and friends my salvation. That's me in a nutshell.
